Family Discipleship Weekend

August 14-16th

Join us for a weekend focused on equipping families and all generations to grow in Christ-centered discipleship.

The weekend includes mandatory volunteer training on Friday evening for current and future children and student ministry volunteers, followed by a Saturday conference featuring worship, teaching, breakout sessions, and lunch. Topics include marriage, parenting, discipling children and teens, technology and family, and intergenerational discipleship.

Cost is $10 per individual or $20 per family.

Here is the list of breakout sessions that will be provided.

Session 1:

  • “Raising toddlers in a Christ-centered Home” led by Jason and Charity Palmer (Rm 105)

  • “How do we deal with technology, particularly Social Media!” Led by Ian Turner (Rm 201)

    • In a world where screens shape so much of our lives, how can we use technology without letting it use us? This session explores five common lies technology tells us, contrasts them with the truth of God's Word, and equips you with practical strategies for using technology wisely—embracing its benefits while establishing healthy, faith-building boundaries

  • “Disciplines for a Healthy Marriage” led by Jeff and Megan Dalton (Rm 207)

    • “Join Jeff and Megan for Disciplines of a Healthy Marriage, a practical, Christ-centered seminar designed to encourage couples to build stronger marriages through biblical habits that honor God. As followers of Christ who have experienced His grace and faithfulness in their own lives, Jeff and Megan are passionate about sharing the hope that our God is a God of second chances who delights in restoring what is broken in all of us. Come enjoy a fun hour of encouragement, practical teaching from God’s Word, and learn more about our upcoming marriage Bible study based on Cherish by Gary Thomas.”

  • “Intergenerational Discipleship”- Byambison Pierre (Rm 102)

  • “Being a Disciple in the Business World” - Marc Francis (Rm 108)

Session 2:

  • “Being a Grandparent in this Generation” led by Shay and Linda Reyner (Rm 103)

    • This seminar is not just for grandparents. It is for those who anticipate being grandparents in the next 10-15 years. We will talk about God's vision for grandparents and some grandparenting challenges such as passing along your faith, grandparenting through crisis, and practical ways to leave a legacy.

  • “Christ Following Teenagers in a Christ-centered Home” led by Jason and Charity Palmer (Rm 105)

  • “Being a Disciple in a Single World” Led by Serana Markham (Rm 108)

    • This discussion-based session is for everyone single or married. We will discuss common myths regarding singleness, biblical truths about singleness, explore how to embrace living single and how married families can support singles in the church.

  • “Creating A Formational Home”- Raising k-5th grade in this generation led by Joe Yandle (Rm 202)

    • What would it look like to form kids with lasting faith in Jesus, no matter the culture or context? Join us as we seek to equip parents to confidently disciple their kids by developing a Formational Home Pathway.

Cherish Marriage Class

Starting August 29th

The Cherish study is a 7-week, Christ-centered marriage journey designed to help couples move beyond simply loving one another to truly cherishing each other. Led by Jeff and Megan, this study will encourage couples to strengthen communication, grow spiritually together, and pursue God’s design for marriage through practical teaching and discussion. Cost is $5 per couple for the workbook.

Weekend to Remember Marriage Retreat

November 13–15th

We are offering for up to 30 couples the opportunity to attend the Weekend to Remember retreat at no admission cost through the church. Eligible couples must attend the Family Discipleship Weekend Conference on August 15 and complete the 6-week Gary Thomas marriage study in the fall.

The retreat is designed to strengthen marriages, deepen communication, and encourage spiritual growth together in Christ. Space is limited, and couples are asked to register through Ridgecrest rather than directly through the retreat organization.
